Artist Statement

I first remember being inspired by space when I got a wonderful encyclopedia at the age of about 8 years old.

I like to create images of things that cannot be seen, perhaps because they were never built, perhaps because we have never been to the right places. And if we can see what might have been, then perhaps we can be inspired to greater things in the future.

I start by making a detailed model, collecting references and trying to understand what each part is for. This understanding informs my approach, and can help in plugging gaps in references. This was particularly helpful in my most challenging project, modelling the soviet N-1 moon rocket.
